Boris Pilichowski, CFA is a French national with an engineering degree from École des Mines de Paris and 15 years experience in capital markets. He started his career in Asia in 1997 working as quantitative analyst for the trading floor of Indosuez-WICarr. There he gained exposure and understanding of all major financial products and assets classes. In 1999 he joined Goldman Sachs in London as a sales person and became an equities proprietary trader in 2003.
He subsequently worked at Morgan Stanley (2005) and Deutsche Bank (2009). During this time he developed a strong expertise on all the different aspects of the investment process: working as a financial analyst, implementing trading strategies, building investment teams, participating in the development of risk trading systems.
In 2011, Boris was a Portfolio Manager at Apson Capital, a new hedge fund seeded by Oaktree Capital Management. As a partner in Apson, Boris participated actively in the set-up of the team, the infrastructure and the legal framework. The fund did not perform and was closed in 2012. From this experience, Boris understood clearly the challenges that can be faced when building an investment business and also the difficulties encountered when Portfolio Managers need to improve their investment process or their team management. On a personal level, Boris has developed a passion for coaching and mindfulness and has been privately advising professionals. He is accredited as an executive coach by the London Academy of Executive Coaching.
Boris is now advising and coaching traders and portfolio managers as well as managements in various banks, hegde funds and asset managers. He is also advising family offices on organisation and strategy. Finally, he participates to education programs for retail investors.
